What does an actor do?

An actor or actress can play roles on stage, television, radio, film, or in the context of other forms of entertainment. An actor gives substance to a serious or comical role through speech, gestures, and body language to entertain or inform viewers. As an actor your goal is not always to simply entertain people. There are also so-called training actors, for instance. These actors are often hired by companies or organisations for an instructional video, role play, or theatre play. Training actors are usually hired for role play, however. For example, in assessments to test candidates in certain situations or to teach employees how to deal with difficult, aggressive, or assertive customers. Some actors also excel at dancing or singing and are cast accordingly. As an actor you are creative and have no trouble acting in front of large groups of people and bearing responsibility.
